Eugène Christophe
This edition of Milano-San Remo was run under horrifically cold conditions. Other riders finished besides the classified four listed here, but the officials had gone home (although Luigi Ganna, who arrived second, was declassified for taking a car). Winner Christophe took years to recover from his ordeal. Les Woodland tells the gripping tale in Cycling's 50 Craziest Stories.
